Fun-in-the-Sun Country Club on Lake Arlington

What’s summer without a little fun in the sun?

Ahead of July 4th in 1966, the Fun-in-the-Sun Country Club on Lake Arlington placed this ad in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, inviting folks to their Open House and seeking new members. The woman waterskiing across Lake Arlington gives off major ‘Attack of the 50 Foot Woman’ vibes—a 1958 sci-fi flick you may or may not remember—but she seems to be having a good time.

The country club offered a host of amenities, including: orchestra music for dining and dancing, a cocktail lounge, water sports and private beach access, fishing, golf, tennis, and activities for all ages.

Both stylish and sun-kissed, the country club was true to its name, offering fun in the sun.
