Rarely do you see an ad from over 100 years ago for a small business that is still operating today. Founded by Horace Edgar Cannon (1871–1941) in 1893 in East Texas, he moved his shop to Arlington in 1921. It’s been part of the community for over a century, though today they sell flowers and plants (and are known as H. E. Cannon Floral) instead of trees and shrubs.
Robert Perry Mills Jr. (1941–1967) graduated from Arlington High School, became a dentist, and served in Vietnam.
One of Arlington’s earliest tourist attractions was the mineral well.
In June and July 2026, Arlington hosted nine World Cup soccer matches, truly welcoming the world to our city.
