Today, we remember Arlington Police Corporal Joseph “Joey” Cushman, who tragically died on June 7, 2001, during a training exercise. He was 27 years old.
Born in Fort Worth, Cushman graduated high school there before attending UTA to study criminal justice. His father was a Fort Worth police officer and Joey followed in his footsteps, joining the Arlington Police Department and becoming Rookie of the Year. He served the department for a little over 4 years, having been promoted to Corporal shortly before his death. An officer who led by example and was dedicated to serving others, Cushman was also active in community programs such as Citizens on Patrol.
We remember Corporal Cushman’s service to Arlington with deep gratitude.
