Division Brewing – Arlington 150

Division Brewing recently released a new, limited-edition beer as part of Arlington’s 150th anniversary. The beer, appropriately named Arlington 150, is a 6% Belgian Wit style and a collaboration with the City of Arlington.

While I missed out on the release party and one of the commemorative cans, I had it on draft at the brewery the next day. This beer pours a cloudy, pale straw-yellow color. Similar to a Hefeweizen, the taste has hints of wheat, clove, bubble gum, and banana. That might sound like an odd combination, but it’s exactly what you would expect from a beer of this style. Semi-sweet, nicely carbonated, creamy mouthfeel, crisp, and refreshing, it especially pairs well with warm weather on Division’s patio. Though typically not my favorite style, when it’s done properly, as this one is, it’s hard to beat.

This was a solid beer that I enjoyed. I’ll make it a point to have another before it’s gone. As for the style choice, they wanted to brew something that was easy-drinking and approachable, which this beer certainly was.
