Field of Honor
Arlington’s fourth annual Field of Honor was held September 3-11, 2022, at Veterans Park. The event began in 2019 to honor Patriot Day and the victims of the 9/11 attacks. It has since evolved into honoring and celebrating all heroes, including active-duty military, veterans, fallen service members, front-line responders, and others.
The event’s highlight includes the placement of more than 911 American flags laid out in a grid. Flags are available for purchase and can be dedicated to any hero, with a brief personalized message included on each one. Proceeds from the flags benefit the Arlington Veterans Park Foundation. The area is illuminated at night, allowing a different view of the flags from the daytime. The event also includes speakers and performances.

The flags are an awe-inspiring sight. Seeing so many American flags and reading the personalized messages offers a deeply patriotic feeling. It’s a striking way to celebrate and honor our heroes.
Veterans Park
Veterans Park is a sprawling area of over 100 acres in west Arlington. It includes walking trails, equestrian trails, nature areas, a disc golf course, a playground, a performance amphitheater, a pond, public art, and other amenities. Notably, it has military memorials, including the Veterans Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, and a planned Korean War Memorial. Veterans Park hosts the annual Field of Honor and Veterans Day celebrations, among other events.
