Though I’m not too familiar with her music, and she definitely has no idea who I am, we do have something in common: we were both born in Arlington and almost on the same day—albeit seven years apart. She was born on April 10; myself on April 12.
Singer-songwriter Maren Morris was born on April 10, 1990, in Arlington and graduated from Bowie High School in 2008.
Maren began singing at a young age, performing at local venues like Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue. In 2013, she moved to Nashville to pursue songwriting, writing for stars like Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson before stepping into the spotlight herself. Her major-label debut, Hero (2016), earned widespread acclaim and a Grammy for Best Country Solo Performance for the song “My Church.”
Over her career, she has earned 17 Grammy nominations and successfully transitioned from her country roots into a more pop-centric sound. Beyond the recording studio, she has also co-authored two children’s books.
Maren is currently on tour promoting her latest album, Dreamsicle, which was released in May 2025.
