Remembering Ron Wright

Today, we remember U.S. Rep. Ron Wright (1953–2021), a longtime Arlington resident, dedicated public servant, and prominent community leader.

Mr. Wright served on the Arlington City Council from 2000 to 2008, including four years as Mayor Pro Tem, and was the Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector from 2011 to 2017. He later represented Texas’ 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2019 until his passing.

Beyond elected office, Wright was a champion for the community. He served on numerous boards and commissions, was instrumental in creating the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, supported the Tarrant County and Arlington Historical Societies, and helped lead efforts to bring the National Medal of Honor Museum to Arlington.

Mr. Wright passed away on February 7, 2021, at age 67. Following a public viewing at AT&T Stadium, hundreds attended his funeral to honor a man remembered for his leadership, wit, optimism, warmth, and signature bowties. In 2022, the Lake Arlington Library Branch was dedicated in his honor.
