There just aren’t enough bike-a-thons anymore, don’t you think? In this fun photo from 1972, Arlington City Council Members Doland Maner and Martha Walker rode a tandem bicycle in a ‘bike-ology’ ride raising money for trees and ecology materials for schools and libraries. Over 100 others joined the fun, with each lap around Vandergriff Park sponsored to help the cause. Although both passed recently, seeing Doland and Martha together like this reminds us how much they truly loved our community.
