Remembering Grace Beauchamp (1914-1934)

A young student named Grace Beauchamp tragically passed away in a car accident on this day in 1934.

Born in Dallas in 1914, Grace graduated from Arlington High School and North Texas Agricultural College, now UTA. At the time of her death, at age 20, she had recently enrolled at the College of Industrial Arts, a forerunner to Texas Woman’s University in Denton.

Beyond her academic achievements, Grace was a leader in her community. She was a former Worthy Advisor to the Arlington Rainbow Girls, the highest office in the youth civic organization dedicated to teaching leadership, confidence, and service.

On the night of November 22, 1934, Grace and five other youths were traveling near Denton when their car was sideswiped, causing it to overturn in the darkness. While the others suffered minor injuries, Grace passed away.

Grace’s funeral was held at Arlington Baptist Church with burial at Parkdale Cemetery. Although her obituary leaves many unanswered questions, she was remembered for her kindness and as a bright young woman with a promising future ahead of her. She was educated, ambitious, and poised to be a leader in her community. We celebrate her life and honor her memory.
