“Arlington In Last Rites For Rose” (1923)

William H. Rose (born 1883) served as Arlington’s Mayor from 1919 until his unexpected death in 1923. Rose’s death was caused by a delirium-induced fall from a hospital window following an operation a few days earlier. His funeral was said to be the largest attended in Arlington at the time, with schools, banks, and businesses closing and much of the town paying their respects.

In addition to being mayor, he was a merchant and real estate developer who had a great vision for Arlington.
