Big crime in the small town.
Burglars hit J. S. McKinley’s store, helping themselves to $300 worth (nearly $11K today) of guns, pistols, knives, and razors before making off like thieves in the night. It’s unknown if the suspects were ever identified.
With Arlington’s location between Dallas and Fort Worth, Interurban cars and the railroad brought many people to and through the town. The burglars used Arlington’s location, the ease and anonymity of public transportation, and the cover of darkness to remain undetected.
