This year marks the 46th annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at J. Gilligan’s Bar & Grill—one of the longest-running annual events in Arlington and always a festive time.
More than simply a place for food and drink, J. Gilligan’s remains a popular hangout and is one of the most beloved spots in the community. Their Irish Nachos are legendary, and few Arlington restaurants have such an iconic menu item so closely tied to their identity.
Here’s a look back at the origins of J. Gilligan’s with a 1982 article from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Namesake John Gilligan (1951-2002), and current owner, Randy Ford, are shown here.
