Danny Armstrong: An Afternoon of Rearview Reflections

Hosted by Fielder Museum and the Arlington Historical Society | 02-25-24

Rearview Reflections of Arlington, Texas

Danny Armstrong (Arlington High School, Class of 1963) recently published a memoir about growing up in Arlington. The book is titled “Rearview Reflections of Arlington, Texas: Short Stories Looking Back on Growing Up in Arlington, Texas in the ’50s & ’60s,” and I was one of the first to get to read it. Thank you, Danny, for sending me a copy!

On February 25th, Danny stopped by Fielder Museum for a book signing event. He shared stories from his book and signed copies, and we all reminisced about the good old days. Nearly 100 people attended the event, including Danny’s family and friends, as well as classmates and other well-wishers. We had a small pop-up exhibit with Arlington High School memorabilia to help set the mood. It was a great event and a full house. Congrats, Danny!

Danny signed books for everyone who wanted one. He sold a lot of books that day, and folks enjoyed hearing his stories about growing up in Arlington!

Arlington High School Pop-up Exhibit

Arlington High School was the city’s first high school, opening in 1922. The Fielder Museum in Arlington has a sizable collection of Arlington High School memorabilia. We pulled out a few things for Danny’s event—here are some photos.
