Pantera’s ‘Walk’ Has Over 570 Million Streams on Spotify—How Does It Compare?

Pantera’s 1992 album ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ is their most popular release, cementing their legacy as heavy metal icons. An album with few weak spots, if any, the song “Walk”—an attitude-filled anthem with some of Dimebag Darrell’s most iconic riffs—stands as not only the most popular track on the album, but one of their most popular songs with over 570 million streams on Spotify.

Pantera – Vulgar Display of Power

That is an astonishing number, especially for a heavy metal band. To put that into perspective, consider how it stacks up against other legendary metal anthems:

Spotify Streams – as of March 14, 2026

  • Iron Maiden – “The Trooper” (594 million)
  • AC/DC – “Hells Bells” (578 million)
  • Pantera – “Walk” (572 million)
  • Metallica – “Sad But True” (506 million)
  • Megadeth – “Symphony of Destruction” (425 million)

Now, these are just a few examples, and songs may rank differently on other platforms. Demographics and listening preferences are also factors, and “official” counts can fluctuate. However, realize that although Spotify and other streaming services use algorithms, listeners generally choose what songs to hear and which ones to skip.

Though Metallica remains the heavy metal streaming king with three songs currently in Spotify’s “Billion Club,” Pantera’s digital fanbase exceeds many of their peers. A song hits half a billion streams because it’s impactful. While Pantera might not always get the mainstream acclaim they deserve, their popularity, relevance, and longevity clearly go much further than many think.
