The Londoner Pub: Coming Soon to Arlington

The Londoner Pub, founded in 1997 in Addison and later expanded to Dallas and Colleyville, is launching an Arlington outpost this spring at 1409 N. Collins, near AT&T Stadium. Known for its authentic British atmosphere, The Londoner’s all four locations will likely host watching parties for the 2026 World Cup, surely with special events for Arlington’s nine games. Expect an especially festive mood (and the inevitable swarm of soccer hooligans) when England faces Croatia on June 17 right here in town. If England wins, expect mayhem. If they lose, also expect mayhem. Plan accordingly.

I intend to visit the Arlington location once they open to provide a full report. While it’s an English pub, and one in Texas, I’m hoping for a top-notch Guinness and cuisine well above average. I don’t usually get too excited about new restaurant openings, but here we are.

The Londoner

I visited The Londoner’s Dallas location once for a pint of Guinness and remember it being quite decent. A few of the draft offerings slightly tampered with the vibe—Dallas Blonde, Shiner Bock, and others—but this is Texas, after all, and there is nothing wrong with some local pride. However, seeing Bud Light and its kin on draft at a place like this feels like sacrilege. Some would even argue that an English pub outside of the U.K. can never truly be the same, but we take what we can get.

Despite the Texas twist and somewhat catering to the masses, The Londoner also features several imports that can be hard to find on draft in North Texas, and especially in Arlington. Though their food menu covers the usual suspects like Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash, and Cottage Pie, one would expect them to do the classics well.

While a forthcoming English pub is brilliant, I’ve often thought Arlington is still missing a truly traditional Irish pub—the kind with dark wood, dim lighting, proper pours, trad sessions, authentic cuisine (if any at all), and craic. Lots of craic. I’ve even toyed with the idea of opening one myself—Sullivan’s Irish Pub has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? Alas, I’m not a publican or an entrepreneur, so it’s probably best to leave it to the experts.

Obviously, The Londoner leans more toward the English variety than the Irish, but it has potential. Having visited a few pubs in London myself, I can say the Dallas version didn’t stray too far from the mothership, all things considered.

Despite the name, Mac’s Bar & Grill is currently the closest thing to a “proper pub” I’ve found in Arlington, and they pour a damn fine Guinness. Will The Londoner be a worthy contender? I’ll find out soon.
