I wrote this post for the Fielder Museum Facebook page. Many people shared fond memories of Cheryl, whose was the victim of a fatal stabbing outside Arlington’s Forum 303 Mall in 1974. The details are violent and grisly; for this post I focused more on her memory than the murder, which still remains a cold case for the Arlington Police Department.
Today, we remember Cheryl Ann Callaway (1955–1974). A lifelong Arlington resident and Sam Houston High School graduate, Cheryl is remembered as a vibrant, kind-hearted young woman who never met a stranger. At the time of her passing, she was excitedly planning her upcoming wedding.
On January 30, 1974, Cheryl’s life was tragically cut short. The event deeply impacted the Arlington community, and the crime remains unsolved to this day. Over 50 years later, we honor her memory and ensure her story is not forgotten.
