The Arlington Historical Society began as the Cemetery Society on August 27, 1887. I joined a few years ago and it’s been a rewarding experience.
Happy anniversary to us! Today, we celebrate the founding of the Arlington Historical Society, which began as the Cemetery Society on August 27, 1887.
As “Your History Connection,” we work diligently to save Arlington’s rich history for future generations. More than simply collecting old photos and dusty relics—although, we joyfully do plenty of that—we have a vital mission of preservation, education, and engagement.

Arlington Historical Society—Your History Connection
The Arlington Historical Society is proud to maintain the Fielder Museum, Knapp Heritage Park, and the Arlington Heritage Memorial Grounds. We also hold an impressive archive of artifacts, photos, documents, ephemera, and other items that help tell Arlington’s unique story.
On this anniversary and every day, we deeply appreciate your support. Whether you’re visiting our venues, attending our events, donating your time or money, becoming a member, following us on social media, or simply spreading the word, you are helping us preserve Arlington’s history.
