The Cowboys fall to a 3-6 record after an embarrassing loss to the Eagles. The team has now lost four straight games at home this season.
Dallas Cowboys – Week 10

ARLINGTON || Just when you think the Dallas Cowboys season can’t get any worse, it does. The Philadelphia Eagles were in town for a Week 10 division rivalry showdown. It didn’t end well.
The Cowboys have struggled this season, to say the least, going into the game with a 3-5 record, with all their victories on the road. Further adding difficulties was that the Cowboys’ offense was without Dak Prescott, who was out with a hamstring injury. It was later determined that he would miss the remainder of the season to have surgery and recover. Some bitterly thought the team would be better off without him, but not so fast.
Backup QB Cooper Rush started the game and completed 13/23 passes. He was later replaced by Trey Lance, who took his first attempts as a Cowboys QB, where he completed 4/6 passes. The Cowboys’ offense cobbled together a mere 146 yards altogether—compared to the Eagles’ 348 yards—although the team’s woes go far beyond that. Still, it’s a bit difficult to win in the NFL with those numbers.
The first half wasn’t awful—the Eagles only led 14-6 at halftime, with the Cowboys defense keeping it within reach. However, things took a turn for the worse in the second half. The Eagles scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and would win 34-6. Turnovers, missed opportunities, and a poor effort overall added to the season’s never-ending disappointments. Some also blamed the late afternoon setting sun coming through the stadium windows—causing CeeDee Lamb to miss an easy catch in the endzone—but it probably wouldn’t have mattered much in the end.

The Cowboys have lost before, for sure, but these last few losses feel different. After the game, the mentality on social media was that of an angry mob hoisting pitchforks and torches, with many fans practically disowning the whole organization.

Dallas Cowboys fans on social media
Hardly anyone was exempt from the wrath, with people complaining about anyone and everything in frustration. What is often a light-hearted “Oh, those darn Cowboys” has turned into viscous and scathing anger towards a team with an army of diehard fans, many of whom are getting fed up. Owner Jerry Jones took the brunt of the social media tirades—probably both fair and unfair in equal measures—although he’s likely immune to it by now and ignores it anyway. Nonetheless, the Cowboys will need to figure out a way to win a few more games this season to keep the angry mob from tearing down the stadium.

The NFL season continues, with the Cowboys having a chance to redeem themselves against the Houston Texans next week. If the team plans to mount a miraculous season turnaround, the primetime Monday night matchup against cross-state rivals would be a fine time to do it. Expectations are tempered, though, and even if the team somehow finds a win, it will likely be too little too late for this season.
