My 10 Favorite Photos of Arlington—January 2024

January in Arlington usually has some mild weather to get out and take photos. I mostly photograph architecture and signage, so the majority of these fall into that criteria. Coloring, creative editing, and experimentation were a large part of this month, with fewer black-and-white photos than usual. I also inadvertently created a pinkish aesthetic while editing one of my photos and copied the look to several others.

There were many photos this month that I liked, but these are my ten favorites from January.

My 23 Favorite Photos of Arlington in 2023

One of my favorite things to do is explore Arlington. I took over 1,500 photos of Arlington in 2023—photos of my explorations, discoveries, places I went, everyday things, and everything in between. I especially like architecture and prefer black-and-white photos, so many of my favorites have those characteristics.

These are my favorite 23 photos of Arlington that I took last year. These aren’t necessarily my best; some of them aren’t even that good. Nonetheless, these are the ones that stood out to me the most.

“Better together” theme highlights Mayor Ross’ 2023 State of the City address

I watched Mayor Jim Ross’ 2023 State of the City address to close out the year. The event was held at Arlington’s Esports Stadium on October 25th and is available on YouTube. Jim Ross is serving his second term as Arlington’s Mayor, with this being his third State of the City address. The annual event primarily serves as a high-level look at the city’s success stories.

Halloween night at Six Flags Fright Fest

Six Flags turns into a spooky funhouse for Fright Fest, with shows, attractions, decorations, and other thrills throughout the park. The park feels like a movie set, as they utilize strobe lights, smoke machines, sound effects, music, props, costumes, and other elements to bring the fantasy of Halloween to reality. I went on Halloween night, which was the perfect time to be there. I imagine they make it a bit spookier on Halloween, and it was certainly a fun and surreal night.
