Arlington Police Officers—End of Watch

The Arlington Police Department has lost nine officers in the line of duty. We’re grateful for their service and dedication to Arlington. In remembrance of James Johnson, Gary Harl, Terry Lewis, Jerry Crocker, Craig Hanking, Joseph Cushman, Craig Story, Jillian Smith, and Darrin McMichael.

Officer Craig Hanking—End of Watch: August 3, 1994

Arlington Police Officer Craig Hanking, age 26, died in the line of duty on August 3, 1994. He was a rookie officer who briefly served with the Arlington Police Department.

Officer Gary D. Harl—End of Watch: July 17, 1975

Arlington Police Officer Gary Harl died in the line of duty on July 17, 1975, after a routine traffic stop resulted in a shooting. Officer Harl, age 31, served with the Arlington Police Department for two years.
