Johnson Station, Texas – plaque

Marker text:
Johnson Station, Texas
This cornerstone (1913) came from the Johnson Station school site located at what is now 3301 Cooper Street and Mayfield. The school employed three teachers, grades one through nine. Average enrollment 60.
The students were proud and always ready to inform you about this historical stagecoach headquarters. Col. M. T. Johnson was in charge of the Texas Rangers negotiating with Indians while his soldiers protected the stagecoaches carrying the U.S. Mail.
Dorothy Rencurrel saved this stone.
