On November 11th, to commemorate Veterans Day, the Arlington Historical Society’s Wanda Marshall gave a presentation at the Downtown Arlington Library. The presentation, entitled “Arlington’s War Heroes: Celebrating Their Sacrifices & Achievements,” was a poignant tribute to Arlington’s hometown heroes.
Six Flags turns into a spooky funhouse for Fright Fest, with shows, attractions, decorations, and other thrills throughout the park. The park feels like a movie set, as they utilize strobe lights, smoke machines, sound effects, music, props, costumes, and other elements to bring the fantasy of Halloween to reality. I went on Halloween night, which was the perfect time to be there. I imagine they make it a bit spookier on Halloween, and it was certainly a fun and surreal night.
I served on the City of Arlington’s Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) from September 2020 to September 2023. It was a worthwhile experience that taught me several things.
I recently received the Debbie Reynolds-Hazen Memorial Award at the Tarrant County Historical Commission Annual Summit. I was truly honored and humbled to accept it.
