On February 25th, Danny Armstrong stopped by Fielder Museum for a book signing event. He shared stories from his book and signed copies, and we all reminisced about the good old days. We had a small pop-up exhibit with Arlington High School memorabilia to help set the mood.
Morgan Woodward was an award-winning actor from Arlington, Texas, who appeared in over 125 movies and TV shows throughout his 40-year career.
Danny Armstrong (Arlington High School, Class of 1963) recently published a memoir about growing up in Arlington. The book is titled “Rearview Reflections of Arlington, Texas: Short Stories Looking Back on Growing Up in Arlington, Texas in the ’50s & ’60s,” and I was one of the first to get to read it. On this day (02-01-2003) in Arlington’s history, UTA graduate and astronaut Kalpana Chawla tragically died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.
January in Arlington usually has some mild weather to get out and take photos. I mostly photograph architecture and signage, so the majority of these fall into that criteria. Coloring, creative editing, and experimentation were a large part of this month, with fewer black-and-white photos than usual. I also inadvertently created a pinkish aesthetic while editing one of my photos and copied the look to several others.
There were many photos this month that I liked, but these are my ten favorites from January.
