Watching the fiery sun fade
Knowing it’s now forever gone
In the darkness we’ve made
Never again to see the dawn
Left alone to shiver and wilt
Only faith can help or hide
Must climb up the wall I built
Amid hopes that lived and died
Footsteps on the ground
Break the silence in two
I turn towards the sound
Relieved to see it was you
Knowing it was a lie
Truth buried too deep
Look to the dark sky
Will I take the leap?
You took my young hand
And reassured my fears
We ascend to a new land
After all these empty years.
