Caught between never and always
Amid the mirror’s disapproving gaze
Unsure reflections through stained glass
But this, too, shall someday pass
Mirrors see beyond your disguise
And the distant look in your eyes
With, without, whisper, or shout
Hang on ‘til midnight and find out
As the day makes a full sweep
Sun or moon – which one to keep
Lost in the dark to avoid the light
Feel the cold air of a pure winter’s night
Oh, go on and count all the ways
Watch life float by in its quiet haze
Watch the horizon come ever so near
The mirror’s reflection is what we fear.
