Test of time

Self-doubt clung like a shadow
I couldn’t shake it
No matter how hard I tried
A spiritual crossroads loomed ahead

Wandering through a dream-like sequence
Retraced my steps
Replayed old memories
Lost in a vast wilderness of time and space

Mysterious patterns emerge
To keep me from floating away
Another ritualistic ouroboros
As life expands and contracts

Cloaked with faded swagger
Indeed, a rusty suit of armor
Constellations sway overhead
Ominous animosity ensues

Will I stand the test of time
Will time stand the test of me
Maybe it all matters not
Maybe the only time that matters
…is precisely at this moment.

A poem by Jason S. Sullivan, 12-03-20
