Sepia skies

Step outside
Trips in your mind
Run and hide
Seek what you find

Sepia skies
Moonlight that burns
Friendly eyes
Memories and yearns

Watch life from afar
Knowing it’s a game
Wishing on a star
It’s all the same

World passes by
Minutes and hours
Too young to die
Thorns of flowers

Simple joys fade
End of the road
Plans best-laid
Carry the load.

A poem by Jason S. Sullivan, 11-30-20
