Man versus man

Is the problem solved
Because we evolved
A collective quest
Mankind’s big test

Waiting for what’s next
Can’t decipher old text
Another torn fable
Won’t set the table

Can we survive this
Or is it a near-miss
Womb to the grave
Fearful to brave

Redeem the martyr
Rewrite the charter
Look to the dark skies
See where the truth lies

We’ve reached outer space
What about the human race
Fellow man is left behind
Death certificate signed

World’s apart
Of a same heart
From a distant past
To the infinite vast

Why is it man versus man
Was that the ultimate plan
Let us join together as one
And remove the damage done.

A poem by Jason S. Sullivan, 11-24-20
