Welcoming the chance
To start a new journey
Rid myself of bad habits
Juvenile distractions
And muddy thoughts
Escape from a past
— that I feared would
determine my future —
Starting over at last
Shedding my scarred skin
Wind, compass, and sail align
To guide a ship adrift in the sea
A new land now in the sights
Waiting for bold footsteps
That were once unthinkable
Seeing things differently, with
Clear eyes and an open mind
Evolving from misspent youth
No longer blowin’ in the wind
Purpose now clearly defined.
