Finally able to remove my disguise
No resemblance to my former self
Slowly emerging from the shadows
Legs step timidly onto unfamiliar soil

Eyes still adjusting to the light
Taking in their new surroundings
Filled with wonder and faith
A stranger in this new world

Precarious / precocious
Momentarily frightened
Sense of relief soon lifts
Exploration is imminent

Sun, moon, stars, wind
All become my guides
A new journey begins
Spiritual awakening ensues.

A poem by Jason S. Sullivan, 10-13-20
