Drifting

Drifting in and out
Of an old memory
Consumed by doubt
Unsure where to be

Just waiting for the day
When I’d see you again
Practiced what I’d say
Torn to pieces until then

A soft moonlit rain
Falls from the sky
Drowns away pain
And the tears I cry

Drifting but not adrift
Lost but not far gone
The present is a gift
As dusk fades to dawn.
