Early morning musings
Rustle the spirit within
A tiny piece of the world
What’s outside my door?

Void of true feelings
Cold, numb, distant
Truth disguised by lies
Uneventful days go by

Longing for change
Complacent, worn
A shadow of myself
Floating in lost thoughts

Misspent youth
Unfocused anger
Churning slowly
Into sweet oblivion.

A poem by Jason S. Sullivan, 07-29-20
