Adrift in paradise

Cautiously approached the morning
Should have heeded the warning
Knowing the day would be rough
Not in the mood for pretty fluff

Feeling sick, tired, and dread
Half awake, but only half dead
Another day of this curse
Waiting for it to get worse

Barely able to mutter ‘hello’
Wondering if anyone would know
Not the greatest start to the day
At least I tried to find my way

Scribble words with cold restraint
In need of a new coat of paint
Come and steal me away from here
Not sure I could make it another year

“My kingdom for a horse”
That’s the dream, of course
Another day in paradise
Too afraid to roll the dice.
