I wasn’t ready to face you
To hear your empty words
I didn’t want to reunite
Or continue the old fight
What would I say to you
How would it make me feel
Would time apart serve us well
How would we even tell
Is there not a better way
When will it be enough
Is this what you wanted
Did I try my best
Untold resentment
Intentions so pure
Veiled commitment
A strange allure
I should tell the truth
You wouldn’t believe it
When the truth comes out
It will remove all doubt
The space between us
It’s deep and wide
The truth is bearable
If you run away and hide.
