The gate

Try to relax and forget your worry
Take a moment to hear a story
It’s about the fears in your dreams
Where nothing is ever what it seems

I open the gate and the hinges squeak
Stepping into the unknown, wanting a peak
Entering a place that cannot possibly be real
Wanting to turn back but my mind needs to feel

Nothing prepared me to enter this place
Distant eyes greet me, all without a face
The shadows hide the truths and lies
Everyone wears an ill-fitting disguise

I search for a familiar sight to see
It’s all foreign and unknown to me
I decide to leave but can’t find the gate
Alone and misguided is my eternal fate.
